Ukulele Relationship With Guitar
The tuning for an Ukulele is similar to the standard tuning of a guitar's lower four strings except that it is raised by five semitones
and the third string from the bottom is lowered an octave. All the chord forms are the same, but without the top two strings.
Below you can see the relationship between the chords of a guitar and an ukulele. If you were to put a capo at the fifth fret on a guitar,
the following chords, G, C and D would become C, F and G. If you look at the chords listed below you can see that the forms are the same
minus the two top strings.
Sample Guitar & Uklulele Chords
If you move five semitones up from the note of G, as in G#, A, A#, B, C. You can see that the form of G on ukulele is equal to a C chord form on guitar.
The same applies to the C and D chords shown below.
Raising a C note up five semitones as in C#, D, D#, E, F you can see that the form of an F chord on ukulele is the same as a C chord form on guitar.
Raising a D note up five semitones as in D#, E, F, F#, G you can see that the form of an G chord on ukulele is the same as a D chord form on guitar.
